Il Laterzio Faccia a Vista

Marina Cala De’ Medici Tourist Port

An extract from the book by Claudio Piferi

Almost 20 years after the port of Genoa redevelopment project by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop (one of the first Italian examples of a mechanically-assembled contemporary brick facade), the restoration of the tourist port in Rosignano by the architect Andrea Milani represents the umpteenth opportunity to consolidate the relationship between a seaside city and bricks. The project shows how the use of mechanical assembly, referencing naval carpentry, is the ideal mix of the traditional and the contemporary for these coastal areas.
